Moab is a fantastic destination where a lot of different people can come enjoy the red rock with hikes, bikes, trucks, quads, and more. Our speed is more hiking and photography.
This spring, we drove down the 4 hrs to explore Moab for the first time. Our first stop was to take our time to go into Arches National Park. Towering monuments surround you as the road winds around the desert landscape.
Taco Time in hand, we head out of the Amphitheater to access Skyline Arch from the back-route, taking in the sunset together on top of a small mound, making us isolated.
We spent our nights at Red Stone Inn, a small motel in Downtown Moab. Tiny! Noisy. Did I mention tiny? Doors are thin, so you can hear everything going on in the hallway, and our room was the closest to the rear access so we could hear a lot of people and traffic. Decent stay, but be wary.
After some relaxation, and letting the light go out for the day, we conspired to shoot the stars at Windows Trailhead.
It was quiet and still sitting in the star and moonlight of Arches. While our pictures didn’t turn out super amazing, we enjoyed the ambiance abundantly.
The next morning we did the Corona Arch Hike. Out of shape and tired, the hike felt long af. The views the entire time made up for any pain felt, but we also went at the hottest part of the day without proper care.
Resting in the shadow of the arch was a delicious payoff.
Upon our arrival back to downtown , we went and had lunch at Moab Brewery. Beers here were awesome and we may have had plenty. Food was heavy and we retired mid-afternoon to crash. We awoke around 4 AM and disembarked back to Window Arches for sunrise. And so did about 500 other people.
The sunrise was pretty, but fizzled out quickly and our trip ended, another drive ahead of us back to the Salt Lake.
